- The Lygon Arms has hosted its fair share of famous guests – Charles I met here with his supporters, giving his name to the impressive ‘King Charles I Suite’, while Oliver Cromwell occupied a room here immediately before the Battle of Worcester on 3rd September 1651. Often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’, Broadway High Street is lined with horse chestnut trees and includes a mixture of period houses & picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages which have lured visitors for centuries.
